“Nano” derives from the Greek word for dwarf.
Use it as a prefix for any unit like a second or a liter
and it means a billionth of that unit. A nanometer is
one billionth of a meter, the width of six hydrogen
atoms, or about 100,000th the size of a single grain of
sand! Nanotechnology involves the manufacture
and manipulation of molecules from 1-100 nanometers in
size.
Nanotechnology research has focused primarily on
molecular manufacturing -- the creation of tools,
materials, and machines that will eventually enable us
"to snap together the fundamental building blocks of
nature easily, inexpensively and in most of the ways
permitted by the laws of physics." We are still in the
dawn age of nanotechnology. Theories and techniques
continue to emerge -- captivating scientists, students,
entrepreneurs, investors, and even the U.S. government,
which is betting that nanotechnology could lead to the
next industrial revolution.
The emerging fields of nanoscience and
nanoengineering are leading to unprecedented
understanding and control over the fundamental building
blocks of all physical things. This is likely to
change the way almost everything—from air purifiers to
computers to automobile tires to objects not yet
imagined—is designed and made. In this nanoscale
territory, electrons, for one, no longer flow through
electrical conductors like rivers. On this scale, an
electron’s quantum mechanical nature expresses itself as
a wave. This behavior makes it possible for electrons to
do remarkable things, such as instantly tunnel through
an insulating layer that normally would have stopped it
dead. The payoff of this behavior is that electronic
devices built on nanoscales not only can pack more
densely on a chip but also can operate far faster—and
with dramatically fewer electrons and less energy
loss—than conventional transistors.
Nanotechnology and Air Oasis are pioneering the way
for a new frontier in the air purification industry.
The principles and application of nanotechnology in
today’s markets and lifestyles is currently being
featured in many magazines and touted as the opportunity
for a better tomorrow.
What are the experts saying
about nanotechnology?
“Nanotechnology is the way of ingeniously controlling
the building of small and large structures, with
intricate properties; it is the way of the future, a way
of precise, controlled building, with incidentally,
environmental benignness built in by design.”
– Roald Hoffmann

Chemistry Nobel Prize Winner Nanotechnology has given
us the tools... to play WITH the ultimate toy box of
nature-atoms and molecules...The POSSIBILITIES to create
new things appear to be LIMITLESS."
Horst Stormer,

Nobel laureate.
"...four of the defining technologies of the 21st
century will be nanotechnology, biotechnology,
information technology, and environmental science...the
potential both for improving the quality and increasing
the length of life has never been greater."
Malcom Gillis,

"If I were asked for an area of science and engineering
that will most likely produce the breakthroughs of
tomorrow, I would point to nanoscale science and
engineering." “If I were asked for an area of science
and engineering that will most likely produce the
breakthroughs of tomorrow, I would point to nanoscale
science and engineering.”Neal Lane, Assistant to

Science and Technology How
does this improve the Air Oasis technology?
In 2006, Air Oasis introduced the new Quad-Nano Extreme™
metal catalyst, an important enhancement over the
original AHPCO technology. This catalyst has
revolutionized the air purification industry standard.
This patent-pending technology has taken air
purification to a new level. With the catalyst metals in
a nano-sized particle instead of a micron or larger
sized particle we are able to insure a more even
distribution of metals on the target surface. Utilizing
a nano particle also increases the surface area of any
given amount of metals. One gram of nano-sized particles
will have up to 100 times the surface area of 1 gram of
micron sized particles. This increased surface area will
increase the kinetic rate of reaction. The improved
dispersion of metals in the coating, applied to the
target surface, will help to insure a more efficient way
of breaking ozone down to safer levels. This
hydrated-catalytic process, utilizing nano-sized
particles, reduces ozone to the safest levels known. All
AHPCO cells contain this unique and sophisticated
technology.
