POLARITY THERAPY

Polarity Therapy, based on the teachings of Randolph Stone, in its highest essence, helps unblock that which keeps us from experiencing our ongoing connection and flow with Source. Polarity therapy is a gracefully integrated system of understanding and working with the field of dynamic and creative energy that is the embodied self. It honors the holographic nature of existence. Every cell, every structure, and every system carries within it all the elements of the universe and the universe celebrates the inter-relatedness of all life. Polarity therapy dances in and through these layers, these mirrors, these reflections; seeking to facilitate a return to unencumbered flow, harmony and aliveness.

It is a system that empowers the individual seeking treatment to take simple yet profound action to balance themselves through awareness, exercise and movement, sound, and nutrition. Polarity therapy invites the individual to meaningfully engage in a co-creative partnership of healing. (S)he becomes aware of the space of Being and connection to Source or the grief of disconnection (ether), the flow of mind, movement, compassion, and inspiration (air), the passion of creativity, directedness, and digestion (fire), the flow of feelings, death and rebirth, and circulation (water), and the sense of grounding, structure, and home (earth) as integral parts of the bodymind. The elements are no longer just theoretical concepts, they are a clear part of experiencing and embracing life. We become aware of when they move out of balance and how to bring balance back to our lives. Exercises for working with each element are taught, as are foods that help bring the system into balance (pulling from healing traditions of the East and the West).

As Randolph Stone said, "Life must flow constantly to express itself." Health is described as the energy of life flowing smoothly and in balance.

Dis-ease is the presence of blocks and imbalances to that flow in the wireless anatomy. Polarity Therapy focuses on re-establishing the health, the flow, the aliveness that Source directed into our being and that has

moved out of balance in our sometimes tempestuous journey of becoming. It is a holistic and humanistic approach and vision that addresses the living, creative being before us as an interwoven balance of mind, body, emotion, and Spirit

Polarity Therapy

According to Polarity Therapists, the body is a system of energy fields, with the life energy kept in constant motion by the magnetic pull of opposing poles. Depleted or stagnant energy currents result in illness and bad health. Practitioners believe that poor nutrition and digestion are frequent causes of many physical problems; for this reason, cleansing diets are often prescribed to rid the body of accumulated toxins. Simple yoga exercises are often advocated to maintain muscle tone and strengthen the spine. Polarity therapists will also counsel patients to enhance self-esteem, as negative thought can impede energy flow.

History

Developed by the Osteopath and Chiropractor Dr. Randolph Stone, Polarity Therapy works primarily with the energy fields that underlie the human body. It is based on the energy model that was developed in India three thousand years ago and which is combined with the Western understanding of the structure and function of the body. The resulting combination becomes a very potent therapy which has a wide application to health at the mental, emotional and physical level.

What to Expect

You will be asked about your medical history and lifestyle; the practitioner will then assess your energy flow as you lie, usually clothed, on a treatment table. He or she will then use various forms of pressure to clear any blockages. You may be given exercises to do at home, along with advice about diet.
